Besame Cosmetics Sweetheart Balm Review

Besame Sweetheart Balms

It’s my belief that any good cosmetics brand should offer a a good lip balm, especially if the line sells lipstick. Besame is known for their vintage inspired makeup, especially their historically accurate lipstick shades in pretty gold bullets. I feel if you are going to offer bold lipstick, then offer something that makes lips soft and smooth too. And the line does – Sweetheart Balm.

These balms are housed in glass jars with a cute lid. As you already know, Besame knows how to do packaging. I apply these with a lip brush (but I tend to apply everything with a lip brush).

I’ll be reviewing/swatching the shades Tangerine & Peach:

Besame Sweetheart Balms

Tangerine – “clear tangerine orange shine

This is a “jelly” shade of orange with no shimmer. I really like it. It’s the sort of color that I see in Japanese fashion mags. It looks great alone or layered over red or coral lipstick shades. I like the “cushiony” look of this shade.

The fragrance/flavor reminds me of those “Orange Slices” candies. It’s a sugary tangerine.

Besame Tangerine Balm

Peach – “sheer, shimmering coral-peach”

This is a sheer gold shimmer. Alone, it’s a very natural look. But, as you know, I don’t like natural looks. I prefer to layer this shade over any shade of lipstick. It looks wonderful over deep wines, purples and reds. It goes with everything.

The fragrance/flavor is peach, like “peach water” (reminds me of Clarins One-Step Cleansing Water with Peach).

Besame Peach Balm

I’m very picky about lip balms. I have found that price has no impact. There are balms that are of low quality in any price range, the same with high quality. These Besame balms are high quality. The formula is shea butter and jojoba oil based with additional vitamins. These moisturize without feeling sticky and do not vanish in 10 seconds. I have been standing out at a 10°F bus stop most of the winter, my lips have been so chapped. This product actually helped to reverse a week’s worth of damage in one day. These are now a winter staple for me.

Sweetheart balms retail for $18 at Besame Cosmetics. You can also check out their Store Locator page to see if there is a boutique near you that carries the line.

  1. I like how both look on your lips (though I think that almost anything looksgood on your lips ;) ).

I tried using their store locator and failed but if Iever come across this brand in a store I’ll definitely try their balm.

    • Thank you :)

I know in this area, there are a few boutiques that carry it. There seem to be little boutiques all down the West Coast with them. I ended up buying the violet powder and a few lipsticks locally. I don’t *need* another balm but I’d love to try the Rose one.
