Agent Provocateur Maitresse Eau Provocateur EDT Perfume Review
Mainstream Monday – Sniffing a Popular Perfume:
Even my gay guy friends know what Agent Provocateur is because the brand is just that sexy. Like all good lingerie lines, Agent Provocateur launched perfume. Their original lineup was considered too risque for day wear (I don’t know by whom, but by someone). They decided to launch “day” interpretations of each one. These aren’t “lighter” versions, but are completely new compositions. So, if you love Maîtresse, it doesn’t mean that you’ll love the Eau Provocateur version. They’re two completely different perfumes.
Maitresse Eau Provocateur (let’s call it Maitresse EP for short), opens as a crisp green apple floral that lacks the screechiness of DKNY Be Delicious. With time I get a really sweet and powdery acacia floral, like mimosa. The top-mid on me is mostly mimosa-sour apple. It’s both crisp and powdery. The dry-down is a very sheer sandalwood amber. This one feels much more modern than the original Agent Provocateur Maîtresse. But, it doesn’t smell as “young” as you’d expect a green apple floral to smell.
The overall feel of Maîtresse EP doesn’t have the overt “sex” that I expect from Agent Provocateur. But, it’s the “day” version (whatever that means). It’s a rather pretty floral that reminds me of marabou slippers – fluffy and campy. The addition of green apple is rather campy. And this lingerie line will surprise you with an element of camp every now and then. The line doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Notes listed include rose, sambac jasmine, iris, acacia, Granny Smith apples, amber, sandalwood and tonka.
Give it a try if you like perfumes like A Dozen Roses Shakespeare in Love, Halle Berry Reveal, Celine Dion Sensational, L’Artisan Parfumeur Mimosa Pour Moi, Guerlain Champs-Elysées EDT, Malle Une Fleur de Cassie, and/or Bvlgari Pour Femme. I consider this to be a very feminine fragrance. And yes, it’s appropriate for day wear.
Projection and longevity are average.
The 1.7 oz bottle of Maitresse retails for $70 at Nordstrom.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Mimosa sour apple. A crisp yet powdery floral fragrance. It’s not my favorite of the Agent Provocateur “Eaus” but it’s pleasant for something with green apple in it.
