cool, i remember her! i love the ‘cat eye’ look. but, since i am 48 years old, i have found that instead of using ‘black’ for my color of choice, i have to now use ‘brown/black’ but, the effect is just as awesome. just softer, less harsh, less aged. it’s a move that was definitely the one for me. i suppose i did it at about age 45/46, and it is worth it if you find that you just cannot make your eyes look right anymore.

I love black/brown. It looks better than black on most people because of its warm undertones. I recommend it for redheads, olive complexions, blondes, heck, mostly everybody. It is just as dark but it more forgiving because of the warming tones.

Hi! I need some help, I am trying to buy a present for my sister, she has described her preference as “clean” and “floral” and maybe a little crisp. But not too fruity.

I have no idea what that means, but I assume you do. Can you help out?

    Best,

    J

I’ll try my best. I’ll also do a fragrance suggestion post for this too. I love trying to “figure out” fragrance but it is challenging. I have a few suggestions:
Aroma M Geisha Blanche is a light white floral that is clean and fresh. It reminds me of expensive European soaps. It has fruit/lychee but is isn’t a key player. It’s a “niche” fragrance so everyone won’t have a bottle!
Annick Goutal Un Matin d’Orage is a pretty, “wet” and fresh white floral.
Many people like Philosophy Eternal Grace because it is light and effortless to wear. Estee Lauder Pure White Linen is popular too but it does open up fruity.
Do you know of any scents that she likes or has worn in the past?

Thank you for the suggestions! She mentioned that she liked a Victoria’s Secret apple something, but I am not to 100% on that.

She said she really wants to find a “scent.”

        Thanks for your help!

Diptyque also makes some interesting ones such as “L’Ombre dans L’Eau” and L’Autre”. Of the ones I’ve smelled, your suggestions are spot on!

Do you know the scent by “fresh” called “linden” its on oldie but goodie, they no longer make it  do you know a complimentary scent, I’d appreciate your thoughts! I love your site and loved your help with the search for the perfect linden scent! Fresh made my perfect scent once, but no longer! Thanks for any guidance for my quest!

I just happened to stumble across your site. I am working on a book set in the 1920′s and I was researching perfumes of the era which led me to bois which got me here. What a great site! you’ve reminded me why perfume is so important. Anyway, I’m always looking for scents like YSL’s Nu. It’s been discontinued, but you can still get old stock online. But I’m always looking for something similar, not too feminine as I like to be the feminine in my perfume, but not manly. NOT SWEET! Any suggestions?
